Keady anti-social behaviour raised with police

Concerns over intimidation by young males
LOCAL Councillor Thomas O’Hanlon has met with police to discuss ongoing anti-social behaviour and intimidation of women by young males in the area.
Mr O’Hanlon said, “I met with PSNI Inspector Kelly Moffett in Keady to discuss issues across the area including Keady, Middletown, Granemore / Tassagh and Armagh City.
“We discussed a wide range of issues from antisocial behaviour, home and farm burglaries, drug dealing complaints and motorists acting the lunatics on our roads.
“I also raised concerns and complaints from local women who have felt very uncomfortable and intimidated while walking through our communities or even when talking their children to local play parks.
“They’ve described groups of males directing foul, intimidating and inappropriate language at them and sometimes at their young daughters.
“That is completely unacceptable. Every woman and girl should be able to walk through our communities feeling safe and respected.
“We also discussed speeding on our roads and the antics of some motorists in our towns and Armagh City, especially in the early hours of the morning, as well as the open sale of illegal drugs in our communities and the devastating impact its having on individuals and families locally.
“I welcome Inspector Moffett’s commitment to targeted police activity to address many of the issues raised both in the days and weeks ahead.
“I will continue to engage with the PSNI and raise residents’ concerns. Please feel free to get in touch if there’s a particular issue you want o see addressed locally.”
