Markethill man Christopher John Allen (44) appears in court over alleged motoring offences

Christopher John Allen, 44, of Forest Park, is accused of driving after consuming excess alcohol and driving without a licence, and will return to Armagh Magistrates' Court on November 3 for further review.
A Markethill man has appeared before the courts in connection with a number of alleged motoring offences.
Christopher John Allen (44), of Forest Park, is accused of driving after consuming excess alcohol and driving without a licence.
The charges relate to an alleged incident on the Newry Road in Markethill on September 27.
The case was listed before Armagh Magistrates' Court, where a police officer aware of the facts of the case outlined the allegations. During the hearing, the officer told the court that the charges could be connected.
No details of the circumstances surrounding the alleged offences were disclosed during the brief court appearance. The court was not told how the matter came to the attention of police, and no evidence relating to the allegations was heard at this stage of proceedings.
The offences remain before the court and have yet to be tested through the judicial process. A number of road traffic cases are routinely reviewed by the court before decisions are taken on how they will proceed, including whether they will be resolved by plea or listed for further hearings.
Deputy District Judge Austin Kennedy dealt with the matter and remanded Allen on continuing bail.
Bail allows a defendant to remain at liberty while court proceedings are ongoing, subject to any conditions that may be imposed.
The case was adjourned and is due to return to Armagh Magistrates' Court on November 3, when it is expected to be reviewed further.
At this stage, the charges are allegations only, and Allen is entitled to the presumption of innocence unless and until the offences are proved before the court.
