Gilroy denies Armagh link

He has explicitly stated that he “is not and will not be part of any inter-county backroom team”
Former Dublin All-Ireland winning manager Pat Gilroy has denied rumours that he is joining Kieran McGeeney’s backroom team for the 2027 season.
He has explicitly stated that he “is not and will not be part of any inter-county backroom team”, adding that he has no plans to join Armagh or any other county set-up.
Speculation began following a social media post claiming Gilroy had joined Armagh’s management team for McGeeney’s 13th season in charge.
His current focus is leading a new company involved in leadership development, management training, and team performance.
Leading up to the 2026 season rumours had been rife that another Dublin great Dessie Farrell was coming to Armagh, which never materialised.
Farrell and McGeeney have remained very close friends since their club playing days with Na Fianna in Dublin, and after Kieran Donaghy’s departure from the Orchard County to his native Kerry, it was strongly rumoured that Farrell, also an All-Ireland winning player and manager would be his replacement.
As it turned out there were no additions to the backroom team of Conleith Gilligan and Denis Holywood, which still remains in place.
