Philip Conway, a popular Grange referee, took charge of the county senior football championship final, one of the best in years, and proved himself to be always in control of a hard-hitting, action-packed affair.

This year’s county senior football championship final was special for one man in particular - the man in middle.

Popular Grange referee Philip Conway was creating his only little piece of personal achievement by taking charge of the highlight of the club sporting year.

Philip began his refereeing career at underage level in 2015 before progressing to adult football in 2016. Since then he has built up plenty of experience officiating across the county , taking charge of several championship deciders.

Among the highlights of his refereeing career are the 2017 Junior Championship Final between Ballyhegan and Corrinshego , the 2018 Intermediate Championship Final between St Peter’s and Mullaghbawn, and the 2009 Junior Championship Final Replay between Forkhill and Belleek.

Being handed the whistle for the Crossmaglen v Killeavy decider now tops that list. It was one of the best county senior finals in years, for which Philip can be credited for the part he played, always in control of a hard-hitting, action packed affair, where no quarter was asked for or given.

Philip is no stranger to championship success as a player either, with his proudest achievement coming in 2010 when he won a Junior Championship medal with his beloved Grange.
