The traffic management plan has been designed to improve public safety and reduce congestion for residents, visitors and motorists travelling through the area, with motorists advised to expect temporary road restrictions around the South Lakes Leisure Centre.

New traffic management plan will be introduced for this year's Halloween Fireworks celebration in Craigavon, with motorists advised to expect temporary road restrictions around the South Lakes Leisure Centre.

The annual event, organised by Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon Borough Council, is due to take place on Thursday, October 29 and is expected to attract large crowds.

The council said the temporary one-way traffic system has been designed to improve public safety and reduce congestion for residents, visitors and motorists travelling through the area.

Under the arrangements, a one-way system will operate on Lake View Road from Roundabout 4 towards the Civic Centre between 6.30pm and 9.30pm.

From 7.30pm until 9.30pm, the exit from Roundabout 4 onto Lake View Road will be closed to general traffic, although access will remain available for Translink services.

The closure is intended to help vehicles leaving the Rushmere underground car park and Civic Centre car parks exit the area safely and efficiently following the fireworks display.

The council confirmed that residents will continue to have access to their homes throughout the event, with traffic marshals on site to assist those travelling within the affected area.

Residents who need to leave during the traffic management period will be required to follow the one-way system on Lake View Road.

Those seeking access to properties in the area while the Roundabout 4 exit is closed have been advised to approach via Highfield Road through Balteagh Roundabout.

A spokesperson for the council said efforts had been made to minimise disruption while ensuring the event could proceed safely.

"We appreciate that these arrangements may cause some temporary inconvenience and we would like to thank local residents and the wider public for their patience and cooperation while these temporary arrangements are in place," the spokesperson said.

Motorists planning to attend the fireworks display or travel through the Craigavon area on the evening of the event are advised to allow extra time for their journeys.
