Portadown College sets out ambitious new School Development Plan for 2026-2029

The new plan, developed following consultation with students, staff, parents, carers and governors, sets out four key priorities for the College over the next three years.
Portadown College has launched an ambitious new School Development Plan for 2026-2029 alongside a refreshed ASPIRE Vision, setting out its priorities for the future as it builds on more than a century of educational achievement.
The launch was marked by Principal Gillian Gibb, Chairman of the Board of Governors Peter Aiken and the College's Senior Prefect Team, reflecting what the school described as a shared commitment to providing high standards of education and opportunity for every student.
Developed following consultation with students, staff, parents, carers and governors, the new development plan is built around four key priorities: delivering consistently high-quality learning and teaching, making more effective use of data to improve student outcomes, providing a future-focused curriculum and strengthening partnerships between home and school.
At the heart of the strategy is a refreshed ASPIRE Vision, centred on the values of Achievement, Support, Participation, Individual Growth, Respect and Education for Life.
The vision commits the College to empowering students to achieve personal excellence through a supportive community that values individual growth and active participation, while preparing young people to make a meaningful contribution to society.
Speaking at the launch, Principal Gillian Gibb said the new plan reaffirms the College's core values and ambitions.
"Our new Development Plan is about reaffirming who we are as a College community and what we stand for," she said.
"Our refreshed ASPIRE Vision reflects our unwavering belief that every young person can achieve excellence when they are supported, challenged and inspired to realise their full potential.
"As we look to the future, we are determined to build on our strong foundations, embrace new opportunities and ensure that every student leaves Portadown College equipped with the knowledge, skills, character and confidence to thrive in an ever-changing world.
"Our Senior Prefect Team will play a key role in championing the ASPIRE values across the College, ensuring that student voice, leadership and participation remain central to PC life."
Chairman of the Board of Governors Peter Aiken said the plan sets out a clear direction for the years ahead.
"Portadown College has a proud heritage, but our focus is firmly on the future," he said.
"This Development Plan and refreshed ASPIRE Vision set out an exciting and ambitious agenda that will help every student flourish academically, personally and socially.
"The Governors are immensely proud of the College community and the shared commitment demonstrated by students, staff and parents.
"ASPIRE captures the very best of what Portadown College represents: achievement, opportunity, respect and education for life.
"We are confident that these values, combined with a clear strategic direction, will continue to drive excellence across every aspect of College life."
The College said the new development plan and ASPIRE Vision will guide its work over the next three years as it seeks to prepare students for lifelong learning and future success.
