Adam Kay, the best-selling author and comedian, will bring his acclaimed live show Undoctored to Armagh as part of a major Ireland and Northern Ireland tour next year, featuring a mix of humour and heartfelt storytelling.
Former doctor turned best-selling author and comedian Adam Kay will bring his acclaimed live show Undoctored to Armagh as part of a major Ireland and Northern Ireland tour next year.
Kay, whose record-breaking memoir 'This is going to Hurt' sold millions of copies worldwide and was later adapted into a multi-BAFTA winning BBC drama, is scheduled to appear at The Market Place Theatre.
The tour follows a sold-out run across England and a successful season at the Edinburgh Fringe, where Undoctored became one of the festival's best-selling shows.
Described as a mixture of humour and heartfelt storytelling, the show sees Kay sharing experiences from both his medical career and life beyond the hospital wards. Audiences can expect the candid style that made This is Going to Hurt a publishing phenomenon, alongside a collection of new anecdotes that balance comedy with emotional reflection.
Speaking ahead of the tour, Kay said he was looking forward to returning to Ireland and Northern Ireland after receiving a warm reception on previous visits.
"Assuming there is actually going to be a 2027 – it's looking 50-50 at the moment – I can't think of a better place to spend a whole month of it than touring Ireland and NI with Undoctored," he said.
"Last time I was there I got the warmest welcome, despite sharing some of my most unpalatable stories, and I'm very much looking forward to revolting you all again, very soon."
Kay has received widespread acclaim for his work as a writer and performer. In addition to his bestselling books, he has earned BAFTA and Writers' Guild awards for adapting, 'This is Going to Hurt' for television and received an International Emmy nomination for Dexter Procter: The 10-Year-Old Doctor.
His live performances have attracted audiences of more than 500,000 people through West End productions and international tours.
The Armagh date is one of only a handful of Northern Ireland performances on the tour, giving local audiences an opportunity to see one of the UK's most successful comedy storytellers close to home.
