Tributes paid to Leo Hart, Armagh GAA stalwart and family man

Tributes have been paid from across Armagh GAA to the late Leo Hart, a dedicated committee member and former senior player who served the club with distinction, leaving behind a legacy of family and sporting achievement.
Tributes have been paid from across Armagh GAA—particularly from the local Pearse Óg GFC—to the late Leo Hart, who passed away recently as a member of a family deeply embedded in Irish sport and culture. Leo served the club across multiple eras, first on the field as a senior player and later off it as a dedicated committee member, while also deriving immense pleasure later in life by turning out for the club’s over-40s team alongside old friends and former teammates.
His family continues to have strong links within the fabric of the GAA, with his son Ronan being a former Pearse Óg and Armagh U21 stalwart whose current role as head groundsman at the Box-It Athletic Grounds maintains his high-profile involvement. This extensive family connection to local Gaelic games and codes drew tributes from many quarters, including the Armagh Camogie Executive and St Brigid’s Camogie Club.
Married to the former Imelda Clarke from Crossmaglen—whose late father, Tom Clarke, known as "the man with the cap," gained legendary status playing for the Rangers and the Armagh county team—Leo reposed at his home at 30 Derryraine Road, Armagh, until his funeral on Thursday, October 1. The cortège walked from his former home, Windmill House, to St Patrick’s Cathedral, where Requiem Mass was celebrated at 11:30 am, followed by burial in St Patrick’s Cathedral.
Deepest sympathy is extended to his sorrowing wife Imelda, daughters Lara and Lorraine, sons Leo and Ronan, brother Kevin, sister Anne, and the extended family.
