Wicklow's Oisin McConville has been ratified to stay on as senior football manager for at least another year, following a remarkable comeback in the Tailteann Cup final.

Oisin McConville will lead Wicklow’s senior footballers into the 2027 campaign after being ratified to stay in the hot seat for at least another year. The Crossmaglen legend and Armagh All-Ireland winner has been a popular figure in the Garden County since taking the reins in 2023, previously agreeing to a two-year extension in 2025.

In his first season at the helm, Wicklow earned promotion to Division 3, though they suffered relegation back to the lower tier in 2024. McConville enjoyed his greatest day as manager this season when his team produced a remarkable comeback to beat Down in the Tailteann Cup final.

Wicklow trailed by 12 points at half-time and by 13 early in the second half, but ultimately clinched victory by two points. This memorable triumph means the Leinster county will compete for the Sam Maguire Cup next year.
