Well-known Bessbrook singer Helen Chambers is donating proceeds from her recently released cassette to the Armenia Disaster Fund, set up after last week’s earthquake horror which killed and injured tens of thousands and made many more homeless.
Helen’s new tape, entitled ‘Sometime We’ll Understand’, is already proving a big hit with many people all over Northern Ireland. It is her third tape release in five years.
“I decided to donate proceeds from the sale of the tapes over Christmas to the fund after watching the horrific and heart-rending scenes of the tragedy on television,” she says.
“I hope that my small contribution to those thousands of poor, suffering people may encourage others to do the same.”
Incidentally, ‘Sometime We’ll Understand’ is one of eleven favourite sacred songs featured on the fund-raising cassette.
“Even at first, I thought it appropriate that the tape should be named after this particular song, for the words and their meaning reflect my feelings about the ever-increasing need, hardship, suffering and death endured in many parts of the world,” commented Helen.
Other sacred songs on the new tape include ‘Beautiful Isle of Somewhere’, ‘My Mother’s Prayer’, ‘Love at Home’, ‘The Church is Wherever’, ‘Lord Make Me a Mountain’, ‘Brightly Beams’, and ‘My Cool Siloam’s Shady Rill’.
